A moneyline bet, also known as a straight-up bet, is simply betting on the winner of an event.
A spread, also known as a handicap, is betting on a team to win with a handicap, or modified score. For example, the Cubs -1.5 means that the Cubs must win by two or more to win the bet, and if they win by 1 or lose outright, the bet is lost.
Over/Under is betting on the whether the total score for both participants combined is over or under a specified number.
A teaser, also known as an alternate line, is changing the spread or the over/under from the line that has been set by our provider. For example, if the line is set at Cubs -1.5, but the bettor would prefer to make that line -4.5, he would “tease” the bet and select the alternate line of -4.5. Choosing an alternate line also changes the odds on that bet’s payout.
A future is betting on an event that will take place at some future time.
A single bet is just an individual bet on one single outcome.
A parlay is a combination of two or more single bets, or legs. In order to win a parlay, every individual bet must win. Parlays have higher odds attached to them due to the increased risk associated with each additional leg of a parlay.
